Welcome to our weekly St. Bonaventure Parent Newsletter. We will share weekly reviews of student learning, celebrations, and ways we built community. Give you updates on Optimal Learning and School Events. Plus, share reminders with families.
Principal’s Message
We had a wonderful week at school! Students enjoyed our Healthy Hunger hot lunch, the cooler fall weather, and many fun learning opportunities. Throughout the week, we continued to focus on the Fruit of the Spirit, Goodness, by showing kindness, helping others, and making positive choices every day.
As part of my Principal Challenge for October, I encourage all students to show acts of goodness at school, at home, and in the community. Students can share their act of goodness by writing a short sentence or description of what they did, or families can send a photo to their child’s teacher. We look forward to celebrating the many ways our students make a difference!
A reminder that traffic safety is very important. We continue to see parents crossing between parked cars and buses, not using the crosswalk, and making U-turns in the school zone. These behaviours are dangerous and can put children at risk. Please work together to keep everyone safe, even if it takes a few extra minutes to drive around or walk to a designated crossing area. Thank you for helping us model safe habits for our students.
Finally, please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 19th due to the Referendum. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable long weekend and look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, October 20th.

STAY HOME WHEN SICK
The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain Edmonton Catholic Schools’ first priority.
Staying home when sick is one of the most important ways we can protect our school communities. Students and staff need to monitor for symptoms daily before coming to school. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of illness, including fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, new or worsening cough, or shortness of breath, should remain at home until their symptoms have improved and they have been free of fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and they feel well enough to resume normal activities. If your child becomes sick at school, please come and pick them up as quickly as possible. Keeping illness out of our schools is a shared responsibility. Please inform us if your child will not be attending for any reason.
ECSD continues to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and Alberta Education to support our schools in reducing the risk of transmission of illness and maintaining safe and healthy learning environments for our students and staff.
