Principal’s Message
It has been a wonderful week of learning and growth at our school. Students have been focusing on their optimal learning through our theme of Goodness, while continuing to develop their skills in mathematics and literacy. We are proud of the effort, perseverance, and enthusiasm they bring to their learning each day.
With the arrival of colder weather and our first snowfall of the school year, we would like to remind families to ensure students come dressed appropriately for snow and outdoor play. Please refer to the image below to help determine what should be worn each day so that students can safely and comfortably enjoy the outdoors. Students were also reminded that snow is for building, exploring, and enjoying, not for throwing.
Today, we celebrated a fun-filled Halloween Activity Day. Students enjoyed a costume parade, classroom activities, and time together as a school community. As a Catholic school community, we also look forward to honouring the Vigil of All Hallows’ Eve, followed by All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2. These sacred days invite us to reflect, pray, and remember the faithful departed. We encourage families to take time together to honour these important traditions of our faith.
We hope all of our students and families enjoy a wonderful weekend filled with sledding in the snow, trick-or-treating, and moments of prayer and reflection at their parish as we celebrate All Saints’ Day and remember those who have gone before us in faith.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE WEATHER

STAY HOME WHEN SICK
The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain Edmonton Catholic Schools’ first priority.
Staying home when sick is one of the most important ways we can protect our school communities. Students and staff need to monitor for symptoms daily before coming to school. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of illness, including fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, new or worsening cough, or shortness of breath, should remain at home until their symptoms have improved and they have been free of fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and they feel well enough to resume normal activities. If your child becomes sick at school, please come and pick them up as quickly as possible. Keeping illness out of our schools is a shared responsibility. Please inform us if your child will not be attending for any reason.
ECSD continues to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and Alberta Education to support our schools in reducing the risk of transmission of illness and maintaining safe and healthy learning environments for our students and staff.
SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS
A huge thank you to our PAC who gave each student a Halloween treat this Friday. Each student was given a chocolate bar to eat and take home. This is an example of how fundraising can bring impactful and joyful treats and moments to our students.
UPCOMING PAC CASINO
PAC has an upcoming casino being held Saturday and Sunday February 20-21, 2026. All the funds from this casino are allocated to the needs of our St. Bonaventure school; including: technology, field trips, year-end movies and events, additional items for student learning and engagement, Parish field trips and events, and much more. The best way for our community to continue providing these funds is through the support and volunteering of our families.
Using the link provided below, please help us make this casino just as successful as previous years by volunteering for a position. If you are unsure what each position is, please reach out to elise.thorne@ecsd.net and a FAQ will be provided.
