Principal’s Message
This week, we gathered for our monthly assembly focused on the Fruit of the Spirit: Gentleness. I challenged our students to continue showing gentleness through their words and actions toward others, and also toward themselves as they learn, make mistakes, and grow. Small acts of kindness, patience, and understanding help make our school a caring and welcoming community.
We were also excited to see our two new modular classrooms arrive on Friday! Students and staff enjoyed watching the large cranes carefully move the modulars into place. It was an exciting milestone for our school.
Next week, we will come together for our Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday with Fr. Chinna as we honor and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Please take time this weekend to honour International Inuit Day on November 7th and National Indigenous Veterans Day on Sunday November 8th.
Please note that Fall Break will take place from November 11-15, and there will be no school during this time. We wish all of our families a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, November 16.
Due to the issues and problems associated with recess play and soccer, students will not be allowed to play this activity at recess. There have been too many poor decisions made during this activity for us to continue at this time. As we move into the next few weeks, we will encourage them to opt for different games to play at recess.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful week!

WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE WEATHER

STAY HOME WHEN SICK
The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain Edmonton Catholic Schools’ first priority.
Staying home when sick is one of the most important ways we can protect our school communities. Students and staff need to monitor for symptoms daily before coming to school. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of illness, including fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, new or worsening cough, or shortness of breath, should remain at home until their symptoms have improved and they have been free of fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and they feel well enough to resume normal activities. If your child becomes sick at school, please come and pick them up as quickly as possible. Keeping illness out of our schools is a shared responsibility. Please inform us if your child will not be attending for any reason.
ECSD continues to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and Alberta Education to support our schools in reducing the risk of transmission of illness and maintaining safe and healthy learning environments for our students and staff.
SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS
A huge thank you to our PAC who gave each student a Halloween treat this Friday. Each student was given a chocolate bar to eat and take home. This is an example of how fundraising can bring impactful and joyful treats and moments to our students.
UPCOMING PAC CASINO
PAC has an upcoming casino being held Saturday and Sunday February 20-21, 2026. All the funds from this casino are allocated to the needs of our St. Bonaventure school; including: technology, field trips, year-end movies and events, additional items for student learning and engagement, Parish field trips and events, and much more. The best way for our community to continue providing these funds is through the support and volunteering of our families.
Using the link provided below, please help us make this casino just as successful as previous years by volunteering for a position. If you are unsure what each position is, please reach out to elise.thorne@ecsd.net and a FAQ will be provided.
